Josh cooperman’s Record
Josh doesn’t just represent Louisville—he invests in it. His leadership is grounded in service, connection, and a deep love for this community. From council chambers to community gardens, he’s worked side by side with neighbors to build a more resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking city.
Solid Louisville City Council Experience
On Louisville City Council, Josh has worked collaboratively to advance policies and projects that reflect our community’s values of resilience, sustainability, economic vitality and connection.
He supported legislation to help residents rebuild after the Marshall Fire, streamline development reviews, and strengthen the wildfire home hardening code. He backed expanded business assistance, permitted accessory dwelling units (ADUs), eliminated outdated parking minimums, and introduced safer bike speed limits on trails. He also helped secure Louisville’s designation as a CHIPS Zone—positioning our city to attract semiconductor innovation and high-quality jobs.
Josh has championed projects like the Downtown Vision Plan, a refresh of our public library furnishings, and a citywide education campaign on wildfire risk mitigation. He has approved developments that bring new energy to Louisville, including the King Soopers Marketplace and solar canopies at Eli Lilly’s 600 Tech Court campus.
Preserving our preserving our history is just as important as shaping our future. Josh helped protect key historic building landmarks on Main, Lafarge and Pine street.
Community outreach is central to Josh’s work. He hosts monthly Council tables at the Farmers’ Market and biannual Ward 1 meetings to stay connected with residents. He serves on the City’s Finance Committee and represents Louisville and serves on the Board of Colorado Communities for Climate Action (CC4CA), where he also contributes to its Legislative and Policy Committees—advocating for coordinated climate leadership across the state.
Extensive Louisville Community Service
Josh’s commitment extends beyond policy. He has volunteered with local programs and partnerships to help Louisville lead on clean energy and community well-being. He was instrumental in expanding food access through SNAP and D-SNAP, secured grant funding for sustainable agriculture, and supported families in need. He has supported emissions reduction through rebates, audits, and electric landscaping programs, organized recycling events, and served on the City of Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board. Josh launched the Sustainable Louisville Colorado blog, and co-founded the Louisville Sustainability Alliance. He has advocated for Open Space planning and investments in maps and signage. He continues to serve on the Louisville Bee City USA Committee to support native pollinators and habitats.
Community Engagement across Louisville
Josh’s civic work is rooted in volunteerism. He shows up—not just as a council member, but as a neighbor: advocating, organizing, and devoting time and effort to causes that matter. He volunteered for campaigns that reflect Louisville’s priorities, including open space preservation, safe infrastructure, and responsible growth —and supported initiatives to help folks transition to electric landscaping equipment and prohibit new gas stations. He continues to stay active in our local schools—because leadership starts with connection, and volunteering keeps him accountable.
To Josh, leadership is service: rooted in listening, showing up, and working alongside others to keep Louisville a thriving community.
He can’t do all this alone, he needs your help, please donate now or volunteer. Thank you.
